This week we transform the home and garden of Richard and Ann Price, a couple who spend their lives giving to others. Richard has been a volunteer with the Samaritans for 42 years and met Ann, a fellow volunteer there 35 years ago. Over the last 10 years they have fostered over 20 children together and they also volunteer as puppy trainers for guide dogs for the blind.
Richard Price is a volunteer at Samaritans’ Chester branch where he is also Branch Prison Support Officer. He has also been awarded a British Empire Medal for services to the Samaritans and to the community in Chester. After 42 years Richard has not only been a volunteer but branch director, day and training leader and has taken the lead in outreach work, as well as being a listening volunteer. Richard founded the scheme for Samaritans volunteers to regularly attend the Countess of Chester A&E department, which has run for 20 years. He is still training volunteers and is about to lead a team supporting the Listeners at the new prison at Berwyn near Wrexham.
On top of all this they look after their granddaughter Jessica who is two years old 2.5 days a week at their home to help out, and they also recently adopted a retired guide dog who is 10 years old called Gus – so as you can imagine, they don’t have much time for home improvements!!
But that’s where we come in… bring in the Love Your Home & Garden team!
